Ibhaze's Cinnabun Bun or Loose Twist Bun - Pictures

The last post was about my cinnabun bun / loose twist bun (see post here) and I had promised to post pictures of the same style done by moi on Ibhaze's hair. Ibhaze came to visit and we thought it would be fun trying out this style on her. The objective was to put her hair in a bun that she could keep for a week and not have to worry about it.

From the pictures you will see that Ibhaze's hair texture is very different from mine. Ibhaze's hair is kind of springy and really coily. She also put her hair in braids to stretch it out a bit but it did not look stretched the way mine looked. However, I think the style still came out nicely. I am sure this style can be done on relaxed hair too, it may not look as full but it would look nice too.

Cinnabun Bun or Loose Twist Bun - Tutorial

Not sure what you would call this style. I call it a loose twist bun. I checked out some video tutorials for the Cinnabun Bun and it is different from this one. Anyway, I practised the style for a week to speed up my time and to perfect it. Then I tried it on some one else (I'll post pictures of that tomorrow). So at the end of the week I was able to complete the style in 3 minutes 34 seconds. *High Five!*

It is really a simple style and should not take you longer than 7 minutes to complete the first time you try it. I think you can wear it to work (I did). I am sure with the right accessories you can also wear it to formal or not-so-formal events.

Fly Hair At Uncle's Birthday

On the first day of January we celebrate a dear Uncle's birthday. And this year was no different. Uncle kept it small, having only close family present. As usual, it was a fun time with lots of laughs and loudness. You gotta love family!

Here are pictures of my cousin, Eki (who is Uncle's daughter), and I representing family of the natural haired disposition! We interviewed Eki here and she is one half of the blog Ore meji. See more pictures of the lunch on Eki's blog, ore meji. I had my hair in a Bantu knot twist out and then pinned in the side and part of the front. Eki had her hair in a puff and 2 big braids in front. Sweetness!

Harshness in shampoos: Why?

Some naturals complain about using  a particular shampoo that leaves or left their hair feeling dryer than usual. Some complain about the harshness of a particular shampoo on their hair. O'Naturals did a post on shampoos (Part 1 here and Part 2 here). So check out the posts.

Jc of The Natural Haven answers the question "What causes a shampoo to be harsh?" The simple answer is that the "surfactant used is very effective in stripping oil" from the hair. For a more detailed explanation, check out the post here.

This Twist-Out is Nicer Than I Expected

So I twisted my hair hastily a few days ago. I had planned to put the twists in a bun - nothing fancy. I carried that "hasty" hairstyle for a day. I did not like it! :( I took out the twists this morning and voila a twist-out. I pinned the sides in and thought the hairstyle was just satisfactory. Got compliments at work and decided to look in the mirror. The twist-out looked nicer than I thought and it had nice definition.

I achieved the style by using Screwy Hair Butter to twist my hair while it was a bit damp and I let it dry over night. I gues it does not have to be complicated to turn out well. For me, this is a lesson in keeping it simple. Let's see if I can keep the definition till Saturday. *crossing my fingers*
